God claims the world as His. Everything and everyone belongs to Him!
Psalms 24:1 [The Passion Translation TPT]
Generous living is a lifestyle where we are others-focused. It is not a one-size-fits-all concept, and is not limited to the wealthy, the gifted, the beautiful, or the lucky. It is a journey of our hearts being transformed from “What can I get?” to “What can I give?”. It is allowing God to cultivate a generous heart within us. It is a heart posture.
We usually think of ourselves as owners and in our society, that may be true. We own a home, a car, or a pair of shoes, maybe. But in God’s economy, everything belongs to Him. He is the owner, we are the stewards, and the people who steward well are entrusted with more to steward well.
It does not matter how much we have, it matters what we do with what we are given. After all, there is nothing we have that we did not receive. We must develop the attitude of seeing everything we have as a gift from God. When we do that, our mindsets switch from “this is mine” to “what would God want me to do with this?”
Proverbs 11:24-25 [The Passion Translation TPT]
Generosity brings prosperity, but withholding from charity brings poverty. Those who live to bless others will have blessings heaped upon them, and the one who pours out his life to pour out blessings will be saturated with favor.
It’s time for some appraisal. When was the last time you displayed generosity toward someone? What is one barrier that stands in your way from being more generous?
